What happens when my subscription expires?

Quick answer: When Recipe Cloud Plus ends, your account returns to the free plan. Your recipes, collections, meal plans, and shopping lists stay on your account, but free-plan limits apply again. You can still sign in and use Recipe Cloud—you just lose unlimited Plus features until you resubscribe.

When does Plus end?

Your Plus access can end in a few common situations:

  • You canceled renewal — Plus usually stays active until the end of the billing period you already paid for, then expires.
  • Your subscription was not renewed — for example, if auto-renewal was turned off and the current period ended.
  • A payment did not go through — Recipe Cloud may remove Plus access until billing is fixed.

If you canceled recently, you may still have Plus for a little while. Check your subscription status to see when access ends.

What changes on your account

When Plus expires, your account moves back to the free plan. Here is what that means in practice:

What you keep

  • Your saved recipes and collections (recipe books)
  • Existing meal planner entries
  • Existing shopping list items
  • Your profile, preferences, and sign-in access on web and iOS

Nothing is deleted automatically when Plus ends.

What changes

  • Free-plan limits apply again for saving new recipes, creating collections, meal planning, and shopping list usage.
  • If you already have more content than the free plan allows, you can usually keep what you have, but you may not be able to add more until you upgrade again or reduce your totals.
  • Plus-only features no longer apply—for example, unlimited saves, unlimited collections, unlimited meal planning and shopping list use, and changing privacy settings for recipes and collections.
  • Recipes and collections you already set to private typically stay private. You may not be able to change privacy settings on the free plan.

Web app vs iOS app

Plus status is tied to your Recipe Cloud account, not to a single device. When Plus expires, the change applies on the website and in the iOS app once your account updates.

You do not need a separate account on each platform.

How to check your status

Website:
Sign in and open Account Settings → Manage Subscription (or Subscription if Plus is not active).

iOS app:
My Settings → Manage Subscriptions

If you subscribed through Apple, you can also check Settings → Subscriptions on your device.

Can I get Plus back?

Yes. You can resubscribe anytime from Account Settings on the web or through the upgrade options in the iOS app. Your existing recipes and collections will still be there.

If Plus ended because of a payment problem on a website subscription, update your billing details first, then confirm your plan is active again in Account Settings.

Tips

  • If you meant to keep Plus, resubscribe before or right after it expires so you are not blocked by free-plan limits.
  • Canceling Plus does not delete your account or your recipes.
  • If something looks wrong after Plus ends—for example, you still see Plus but cannot use Plus features—try signing out and back in, or use Refresh subscription status in the iOS app.
