How to save recipes from Instagram

Recipe Cloud

Last Modified: June 17, 2026

Quick answer: Open the Instagram post or reel with the recipe, then save it with Recipe Cloud from the Share menu on iPhone or iPad, or with the Chrome extension on a computer. Sign in first. Instagram recipes are often in captions or videos, so you may need to add or edit ingredients after saving.

Before you import

  • Open the specific post or reel — not your Instagram feed or profile home.
  • Sign in to Recipe Cloud before saving.
  • Captions and videos vary — Recipe Cloud can capture the post title, image, and link, but you may need to type ingredients and steps yourself.
  • Posts and reels (including instagram.com/p/… and instagram.com/reel/… links) are supported.

iPhone and iPad

The easiest way is the Recipe Cloud share extension from the Instagram app.

  1. Open Instagram and find the recipe post or reel.
  2. Tap the Share arrow on the post.
  3. Scroll the share sheet and tap Recipe Cloud.
  4. Review the preview, then save to your account.

Don’t see Recipe Cloud? Tap More in the share sheet, find Recipe Cloud, and turn it on or add it to Favorites.

Get the app: Recipe Cloud on the App Store

Paste an Instagram link

If you copied the post link:

  1. Open the Recipe Cloud app and tap Add.
  2. Choose URL.
  3. Paste the Instagram link and tap Save.

If the preview loads without full recipe details, Recipe Cloud may open an editor so you can add ingredients and steps before saving. For many Instagram posts, Share → Recipe Cloud works better than paste alone.

Computer (Chrome extension)

On a Mac or Windows PC, open the post in Chrome and use the extension.

  1. Install the Recipe Cloud Chrome extension.
  2. In Chrome, go to instagram.com and open the recipe post or reel.
  3. Click the Recipe Cloud icon in the toolbar.
  4. Sign in if prompted.
  5. Review the preview and click Save recipe.

The extension is for Chrome on a computer, not the Instagram mobile app or mobile browsers.

What to expect from Instagram imports

Instagram recipes are usually in a caption, carousel, or reel — not a standard recipe page. Recipe Cloud typically saves:

  • Post title or caption summary
  • Thumbnail or image when available
  • Link back to the original post

You may still need to add ingredients and instructions yourself, especially for reel-only recipes. Open the saved recipe in Recipe Cloud and tap Edit to finish it.

If import does not work

  1. Try Share again from the Instagram app (iOS) or reload the post in Chrome and use the extension (desktop).
  2. Check your connection and make sure you are signed in to Recipe Cloud.
  3. Paste the post URL in the Recipe Cloud app under Add → URL.
  4. Create the recipe manually with Add → Custom and paste the Instagram link in the URL field for reference.

On iOS, open the main Recipe Cloud app and wait for the home screen to load if you see a sign-in or session message, then try Share again.

Tips

  • Save while viewing the exact post or reel, not a shared story highlight or profile page.
  • Watch the reel or read the caption while editing so you can copy ingredients into Recipe Cloud.
  • Saved recipes sync across devices when you use the same account on web and iOS.
  • For website and blog imports (non-Instagram), see How to import recipes from the web and blogs.
