How to import recipes with the Recipe Cloud iPhone and iPad app

Recipe Cloud

Last Modified: June 17, 2026

Quick answer: On iPhone and iPad, the fastest way to save recipes is the Recipe Cloud share extension — share a link from Safari, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and other apps. You can also tap Add → URL in the Recipe Cloud app and paste a recipe link. Sign in first so imports save to your account.

What you need

  • The Recipe Cloud app on your iPhone or iPad
  • A Recipe Cloud account (sign in before importing)
  • A recipe link — from a website, blog, or social post

Get the app: Recipe Cloud on the App Store

Imports sync to your account and appear in the app on all devices where you use the same login.

Share extension (recommended)

The Recipe Cloud share extension lets you save a recipe without leaving the app you are browsing. It works from the iOS Share menu whenever you have a recipe webpage or social post open.

Typical uses

  • Safari — recipe blogs and cooking websites
  • Instagram — posts and reels
  • TikTok — recipe videos
  • YouTube — recipe videos and Shorts
  • Other apps that share a web link to the recipe

How to save with Share

  1. Open the recipe page or post in its app (or in Safari for websites).
  2. Tap Share.
  3. Tap Recipe Cloud in the share sheet.
  4. Wait for the preview to load.
  5. Tap Save (or Save to Recipe Cloud on some social links).

Recipe Cloud shows a preview with the title, image, and ingredients when it can detect them. Tap Save to add the recipe to your account.

Enable Recipe Cloud in the share sheet

If you do not see Recipe Cloud:

  1. Open the Share menu on a recipe link.
  2. Scroll right and tap More (or Edit Actions).
  3. Find Recipe Cloud and turn it on.
  4. Optionally move it to Favorites so it appears first.

You only need to do this once per device.

First-time sign-in

The first time you use Share, Recipe Cloud may ask you to sign in or create an account. After that, Share uses your existing login when possible.

If Share cannot restore your session, open the main Recipe Cloud app, wait until the home screen loads, then try Share again.

Add from URL (inside the app)

Use this when you already have a recipe link copied, or when Share is not available.

  1. Open the Recipe Cloud app.
  2. Tap the Add button in the tab bar (or from Saved / your profile).
  3. Choose URL.
  4. On the Save Recipe Link screen, paste the full recipe URL.
  5. Tap Save.

Recipe Cloud loads a preview and saves the recipe when it can parse the page. If details are missing, the app may open an editor so you can finish the recipe before saving.

Tip: Copy the link from Safari or the social app first, then paste it into Recipe Cloud.

What to expect

  • Websites and blogs — Recipe Cloud often imports title, image, and ingredients automatically.
  • Social videos — You may get the title, thumbnail, and link; add ingredients and steps from the caption or video yourself.
  • Incomplete imports — Edit the recipe in the app after saving, or complete the form if Recipe Cloud opens the recipe editor.

Not every site formats recipes the same way. The original link is usually kept on the recipe so you can refer back to the source.

Tips

  • For recipe websites, Safari + Share is usually the smoothest path on iOS.
  • Saved recipes appear under Saved in the app and sync with the web app on the same account.
  • To type a recipe from scratch, use Add → Custom instead of URL or Share.
