Quick answer: Open the recipe page on the site, then import it with the iOS share extension (from Safari) or the Recipe Cloud Chrome extension (on a computer). You can also paste the recipe URL in the app or web app if you already have the link. Sign in first so the recipe saves to your account.
Before you import
- Use the actual recipe page — not a blog homepage, category page, or search results.
- Sign in to Recipe Cloud before saving.
- Copy the full link if you are pasting a URL (starting with
https://orhttp://). - Sites vary — some blogs import cleanly; others need a quick edit after saving.
This article covers websites and blogs. For Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube, see our help for saving from social media.
iPhone and iPad (recommended: share from Safari)
The easiest way to import from a website on iOS is the Recipe Cloud share extension while viewing the recipe in Safari.
- Open Safari and go to the recipe page.
- Tap the Share button.
- Tap Recipe Cloud in the share sheet.
- Review the preview, then save the recipe to your account.
First time? You may be asked to sign in or create an account.
Don’t see Recipe Cloud? Scroll the share sheet, tap More, find Recipe Cloud, and turn it on (or add it to Favorites).
Get the app: Recipe Cloud on the App Store
Paste a URL instead (iOS)
If you already have the link:
- Tap the Add button in the Recipe Cloud app.
- Choose URL.
- Paste the recipe link and tap Save.
If the import is incomplete, Recipe Cloud may open an editor so you can finish the recipe before saving.
Computer (recommended: Chrome extension)
On a Mac or Windows computer, use the Recipe Cloud Chrome extension while you are on the recipe page.
- Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
- Open the recipe in Google Chrome.
- Click the Recipe Cloud icon in the toolbar (pin it for quick access).
- Sign in if prompted.
- Review the preview and click Save recipe.
The extension is for Chrome on a desktop or laptop, not mobile browsers.
You can also find a Chrome Extension link in the + menu on recipecloudapp.com.
Paste a URL instead (web app)
- Sign in at recipecloudapp.com.
- Click the + menu and choose Add From URL.
- Paste the recipe link and continue.
Recipe Cloud loads a preview you can review and save. If parsing fails, you can enter details manually on the recipe editor.
Which method should I use?
| Situation | Best option |
|---|---|
| Recipe open on iPhone/iPad in Safari | Share → Recipe Cloud |
| Recipe open on a computer in Chrome | Chrome extension |
| You only have the link copied | Paste URL (iOS app or web app) |
| Import missed ingredients or steps | Try share/extension while on the page, or edit after saving |
If the import looks incomplete
Not every website structures recipes the same way. Try these steps:
- Import while on the recipe page using the share extension or Chrome extension (often better than paste-only).
- Edit the recipe after saving in the Recipe Cloud app or web app.
- Finish in the editor if Recipe Cloud opens a form with partial details—add missing ingredients or steps, then save.
Your original source link is usually kept with the recipe so you can refer back to the website.
Tips
- Pin the Chrome extension to your toolbar so it is easy to reach while browsing recipe blogs.
- On iOS, importing from Safari via Share is more reliable than copying the URL from another browser when the share extension is available.
- Saved recipes sync to your account and appear on web and iOS when you use the same login.
