Quick answer: Bulk add lets you enter many grocery items at once, one per line. On iPhone/iPad, tap Add Ingredient on the Shopping tab. On the web, use Bulk actions → Bulk Add Items. Paste a list or type several lines, then save.
iPhone and iPad
- Open the app and go to the Shopping tab.
- Tap Add Ingredient.
- In Add Item(s), enter your items — one per line.
Voice input: Tap in the text field, then tap the microphone on the iOS keyboard to dictate items. Pause briefly or say “new line” between items so each one stays on its own line.
- Tap Add Item(s).
Tap ? next to Enter Item(s) for formatting help.
Web app
- Sign in and open Shopping List from the top navigation.
- Click Bulk actions → Bulk Add Items.
On mobile, tap ⋯ → Bulk Actions → Bulk Add Items. - Enter or paste your items — one per line.
- Click Add Items.
Basic formatting
Use this pattern for each line:
[quantity] [unit] [item name] ([note])
Examples:
2 cups flour
1 lb chicken breast
milk
olive oil (extra virgin)
- One item per line — blank lines are ignored.
- Leading bullets or dashes (
-,•) are stripped automatically. - Duplicate lines (same text, ignoring capitalization) are added once.

Tips
- Paste from Notes, Messages, or a recipe before shopping.
- Keep lines simple — quantity and unit first, then the item name.
- After adding, tap an item to edit it or change its aisle/category.
