Quick answer: On the web, save recipes by pasting a URL from the + menu in Recipe Cloud, or by using the Chrome extension while you browse a recipe page. Sign in at recipecloudapp.com first. Imports save to your account and sync with the iOS app on the same login.
What you need
- A Recipe Cloud account — sign in or create one
- A modern web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge) for the web app
- For extension imports: Google Chrome on a computer (Mac or Windows)
Open the web app: recipecloudapp.com/explore/
Chrome extension (recommended for browsing)
The Recipe Cloud Chrome extension is the fastest way to import while you are already on a recipe page. Use it on recipe websites, blogs, and social posts opened in Chrome.
Install the extension
- Install from the Chrome Web Store.
- Pin the Recipe Cloud icon to your Chrome toolbar for quick access.
You can also choose Get Chrome Extension from the + menu on recipecloudapp.com.
Save a recipe from a page
- Open the recipe in Google Chrome (website, blog, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and similar).
- Click the Recipe Cloud extension icon.
- Sign in if prompted.
- Wait for the preview to load.
- Click Save recipe.
When saving finishes, you can View recipe or open My Recipes on the website. Use Edit recipe in the extension if you want to adjust details before or after saving.
First-time sign-in
The first time you use the extension, Recipe Cloud opens a sign-in flow. After you sign in, return to the recipe page and click the extension again.
The extension runs in Chrome on a desktop or laptop. It does not replace the iOS app on iPhone or iPad.
Add from URL (inside the web app)
Use this when you have a recipe link copied, or when you are not using the extension.
- Sign in at recipecloudapp.com.
- Click the + button in the top navigation.
- Choose Add From URL.
- In the Add a Recipe by URL window, paste the full recipe link.
- Submit to import.
Recipe Cloud loads the recipe into the editor with title, image, ingredients, and steps when it can parse the page. Review the details, make any edits, and save to your account.
Tip: Use the full link starting with https:// or http://, and open the actual recipe page — not a homepage or search results.
When to use URL vs the extension
| Situation | Best option |
|---|---|
| You are viewing the recipe in Chrome | Chrome extension |
| You copied a link from email or another app | Add From URL |
| The extension did not detect the recipe | Try Add From URL, or use Add Recipe Manually |
What to expect
- Websites and blogs — Recipe Cloud often imports title, photo, ingredients, and instructions automatically.
- Social links — You may get title, thumbnail, and link; add ingredients from the caption or video if needed.
- Incomplete imports — Edit the recipe in the composer before saving, or fix it afterward from My Recipes.
Not every site formats recipes the same way. The source URL is usually kept on the recipe so you can return to the original page.
Tips
- Pin the Chrome extension so it is easy to reach while browsing recipe sites.
- Imports sync to your iPhone and iPad when you use the same Recipe Cloud account.
- To type a recipe from scratch, use + → Add Recipe Manually instead of URL or the extension.
- For iOS-specific importing (Share extension), see How to import recipes with the Recipe Cloud iPhone and iPad app.
